NAMPB Feature Article of Interest for May 2002S ometimes in our desire to become reunited with someone we miss, we'll try just about anything to find them. While this desire to find them is normal and there are very good sources of information on the net, one could make poor choices in an attempt to gain information. There are as many different ways to locate someone as there are missing people. There's no magic roadmap that will take you down the path of discovery. It takes both desire to search and data knowledge about finding someone. To make things harder than they should be, women commonly change their names. To overcome this obstacle, a Marriage Index Search could show a marriage and name change. Perhaps the missing person is a male, but was last known to be in Germany in the Army 19 years ago. A Military Locator search may show his current address, or, discharge records on file at the county level may indicate what state he moved to after his discharge. In each of these cases, it's common to hire someone who can access data bases to help in your search. If you hire a Private Investigator or a Search company, be sure you know what you will receive for your money. It's not uncommon for an individual to call one of the 800 Search companies and fork over good money for a simple list of only names. In cases such as this, the buyer of the list is no closer to finding the missing person and is left with the chore and cost of making long distance calls to everyone on the list. If you can find a good searcher or Investigator, they will take the time to explain what is needed to FIND the missing person. Don't be too quick to send away your money until you know exactly what results can be expected. When using the services of a Private Investigator, you should receive more detailed results and a quicker locate of that missing person. Private Investigators commonly work one-on-one with you to meet your end results, not to just supply a list of names. If by chance you DO only want a list of names, be sure to check the P.I. prices as well. They usually can supply them for less than the search companies. Be sure to also make good use of the FREE message boards on the net (you have found the best one here at NAMPB). The bottom line is this - Find out all you can about services offered and the results expected to make smart, informed decisions. By doing so, you'll find your missing person faster and you wont get ripped-off! Return to the NAMPB Main Page. Go straight to the Missing Person Message Board Please visit our advertisers.
